ICON Price Prediction 2026, 2027, 2030, 2050 | ICX Rallies Into Its Shutdown

This ICON price prediction covers one of the strangest rallies of the month. ICX, the token of the network once nicknamed “the Korean Ethereum,” jumped hard on September 22, 2026, even though its own blockchain is scheduled to shut down on December 31, Binance delisted it three weeks earlier, and Upbit announced its exit just four days before. CoinGecko’s gainers board caught it up about 68% on the day, a later CoinGecko reading showed more than 110%, and hokanews reported a gain of roughly 148%. The spread in those numbers is part of the story.

What Is ICON (ICX)?

ICON launched in 2017 as a South Korean Layer 1 blockchain with a big promise: connect the country’s banks, hospitals, universities and government services on a single chain. Its later technical focus was cross-chain messaging through a framework called xCall, with ICX used for gas, staking and governance. In May 2025 the project rebranded as SODAX and abandoned its own Layer 1, moving its DeFi infrastructure to the Sonic blockchain, as CoinDesk reported on May 12, 2025. ICX now exists mainly as a token waiting to be migrated into SODA at a 1:1 ratio.

When we checked CoinGecko during the rally, ICX was trading around $0.021, with a market cap near $23.1 million and a rank of about #839, on circulating supply of about 1.097 billion out of 1.109 billion total. The all-time high is $13.16, set on January 8, 2018, which puts today’s price roughly 99.8% below the peak. Some accounts on X quote a higher peak of around $14.83; we are using CoinGecko’s figure. The all-time low of $0.007881 came very recently, on September 3, 2026.

The Shutdown Countdown That Sent It Vertical

We could not find one single headline that explains the September 22 move, and we are not going to invent one. What we can lay out is the timeline that set it up. The ICON Foundation announced a final shutdown date of December 31, 2026, covered by CryptoTimes on May 25, 2026. Binance announced in August that it would delist ICX, and spot trading ended on September 3, the same day CoinGecko records ICX’s all-time low. Then on September 18, The Coin Republic reported that Upbit, historically the most important exchange for ICON’s Korean holders, will end ICX/KRW trading on October 19, citing security concerns that remain unresolved.

Put those together and you get a token with a hard expiry date, shrinking exchange access, a fresh all-time low and extremely thin trading, in some snapshots around $1 million to $3 million a day against a market cap in the low $20 millions. A token like that does not need much buying to move 70% or more. Several plausible drivers fit the pattern: short covering after the September 3 low, traders buying cheap ICX to swap 1:1 into SODA before the two-way swap window closes on September 30, and a broad crypto rebound that lifted many small caps that day. None of those is confirmed as the trigger, and the honest summary is that ICX rallied into bad news, not good news.

What the Community Actually Liked About It

ICON’s remaining community is a mix of long-time Korean holders and traders who remember the 2018 run. For them, the SODAX migration is a way out of a fading chain and into a live multi-chain DeFi product, rather than a total loss. Kraken helped by pausing ICX on August 7 and converting balances into SODA automatically, a clean path for holders who did not want to handle the swap themselves. That kind of exchange-supported migration is not common for older coins, and it gave holders some confidence that their tokens would not simply disappear.

Traders, meanwhile, liked the volatility. A thinly traded coin with a well-known name, a hard deadline and a pile of delisting news is exactly the kind of setup that short-term traders watch for sharp bounces. Outlets such as cryptoticker.io and EGamers.io ran “last chance to swap” stories in the weeks before the rally, which kept ICX on people’s screens. It is worth being clear that this is interest in a trade, not renewed belief that the ICON chain has a future. The chain itself is being wound down.

ICON Price Prediction 2026, 2027, 2030, 2050 (ICX)

This ICON price prediction table runs a statistical model against the coin’s live market data (current price, volatility, market cap, and supply schedule) rather than assuming ICX keeps trading normally after its chain shuts down. Please read the long-range years with that in mind: the ICON network is scheduled to stop on December 31, 2026, and the value of unmigrated ICX after that date is uncertain. The monthly table below rolls forward automatically to always show the next 36 months from today.

How this ICON forecast was calculated

Every input below comes from live market data and is re-checked daily. Nothing here is a guess dressed up as a number, and you can check the working yourself.

  1. Tier: ICON is classified as a nano cap asset (market cap $16.29M). Larger assets are given lower growth rates, because a coin already worth billions cannot repeat the returns of one worth millions.
  2. Volatility: 184% annualised, measured from 2159 real price observations over the last 90 days. This sets how wide the minimum-to-maximum range is.
  3. Growth rate: a base of +37.7% per year for this tier, adjusted for category and liquidity (normal), giving +37.4% per year.
  4. Market cycle: the four-year Bitcoin halving rhythm is applied on top, so a drawdown year and a post-halving expansion year are not treated the same. The next halving is expected in 2028.
  5. Reality check: every maximum is clamped so the implied market capitalisation cannot exceed $3.00B for an asset of this type. Any figure marked capped hit that limit.

Minimum and maximum are the 10th and 90th percentile of a log-normal distribution. That means roughly an 80% chance the real price lands inside the range, if the model's assumptions hold. They frequently will not. Ranges are scaled by time0.42 rather than the square root of time, because crypto volatility mean-reverts over multi-year horizons.

Not financial advice. This is a statistical model applied to public market data. Crypto assets are highly volatile and you can lose everything you put in. No model predicts prices, including this one. Do your own research and never invest money you cannot afford to lose.

How To Buy ICON (ICX)

  • Check which exchanges still list ICX before you do anything. Binance ended spot trading on September 3, 2026, and Upbit ends ICX/KRW trading on October 19, 2026.
  • If you already hold ICX in a self-custody wallet, the official migration path swaps ICX into SODA at a 1:1 ratio through the SODAX site. Two-way swaps end on September 30, 2026.
  • Do not leave ICX unswapped past December 31, 2026, when the ICON network is scheduled to shut down.
  • Position-size like it can go to zero. You are buying a token whose chain has an announced end date, whose main exchanges are leaving, and which set a new all-time low this month. Nothing here is an entry signal.

Is ICX a Good Investment? The Honest Risk Warning

ICX is not a normal price-prediction case. It is a migration trade. The ICON network is shutting down, and any long-term value now depends on SODA, a different token on a different chain. If you hold ICX past the December 31 deadline without swapping, you are exposed to whatever happens to unmigrated tokens after the chain stops. On top of that, the migration contract was hit by a replay exploit on August 27, 2026. The ICON Foundation says most assets were recovered and that only foundation funds were affected, but the chain was halted for about 25 hours, and Upbit’s delisting notice cited security concerns that remain unresolved.

Liquidity is the other issue. With daily volume that swung between under $1 million and roughly $3 million during this rally, even small orders can move the price sharply in either direction, which is why every tracker showed a different gain on the same day. A 68% to 148% bounce from an all-time low still leaves ICX about 99.8% below its 2018 high. If you want to compare it with another older Layer 1 dealing with a forced pivot, our Harmony price prediction covers a similar shutdown-and-migration story.

ICON (ICX) FAQ

Is the ICON network shutting down?

Yes. The ICON Foundation has set December 31, 2026 as the date the ICON network shuts down, with ICX migrating into SODA, the token of SODAX, at a 1:1 ratio.

Why did ICX jump on September 22, 2026?

No single confirmed catalyst was found. The move came three weeks after a new all-time low on September 3 and during a broad market rebound, in a token with very thin volume and a migration deadline approaching. Reported gains ranged from about 68% to about 148% depending on the source and time.

What was ICON’s all-time high?

CoinGecko records ICX’s all-time high at $13.16 on January 8, 2018, during the ICO boom. At current prices ICX trades roughly 99.8% below that level.

Which exchanges are delisting ICX?

Binance ended ICX spot trading on September 3, 2026, and Upbit will end ICX/KRW trading on October 19, 2026. Kraken paused ICX on August 7, 2026 and converted balances into SODA.
